TUMBLR’S REVENGE PORN POLICY REQUIRES VICTIMS TO SEND THEM PICS/ID. THAT’S DUMB.

Did Tumblr secretly ban revenge porn without telling anybody?! Its Community Guidelines page says it was last modified on January 26, 2015.  I think it’s gaslighting me, though because I swear the “private photos of your ex’s junk (no matter how remarkable)” was not on the list of reportable privacy violations when I last visited.  This is the form for reporting it.

Unfortunately Tumblr requires victims to send photo ID proving it’s them.  Alternatively, taking a page out of the Revenge Porn Webmaster book, victims can photograph themselves holding a sign that says “Tumblr, this is me.”  Tumblr assures victims, “[d]on’t worry, these photos are kept private.” Yeah, victims have heard that before.

Seriously, Tumblr, just take the pics down. Don’t humiliate victims further by requiring them to send you more photos. None of the other big guys (e.g. Facebook, Google, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) require this photo ID thing.  That’s pervy.
