Brooklyn, New York (July 17, 2024) – C.A. Goldberg, PLLC, is pleased to announce the acquisition of L.L. Dunn Law Firm, PLLC, Founding Partner Laura L. Dunn, J.D.,’s national Title IX practice on July 3, which has tirelessly advanced victims’ rights in campus, criminal, and civil systems across the country for the last five years. Dunn will join C.A. Goldberg, PLLC’s legal team in an “Of Counsel” capacity.
Recently hitting its 10-year mark, C.A. Goldberg, PLLC, has become a national innovator in victims’ rights by holding the tech industry liable for harms stemming from their defective products. Its roots in protecting students dates back to a series of Title IX cases against the New York City Department of Education for wrongfully disciplining Black girls who reported campus sexual misconduct. These 2016 cases led to city-wide and national reforms, record-breaking monetary damages, and White House meetings in partnership with Laura Dunn while she led the national nonprofit SurvJustice.
Dunn is a nationally recognized victim rights attorney who founded SurvJustice in 2014 and then her national law firm in 2019, providing survivor-focused and trauma-informed legal services to campus sexual violence survivors. In addition to being an accomplished litigator, published legal scholar, campus safety expert, and award-winning social entrepreneur, Dunn is a survivor of campus sexual violence.
After struggling through the campus, criminal and civil systems of justice, Dunn shared her survivor experience nationally to advocate for Title IX reform during the Obama administration. Since then, Dunn has regularly worked with Presidential administrations, the U.S. Department of Education, and on national and state level legislation and policy to improve the prospect of justice for survivors nationwide.
Carrie Goldberg, Esq., founder of C.A. Goldberg, PLLC, said, “Laura Dunn is our country’s preeminent expert in Title IX campus cases. For years, I’ve admired how her advocacy and litigation have sculpted national policy. The acquisition of her Title IX practice, and having Laura join my team as ‘Of Counsel,’ is a dream come true. I’m beyond excited to expand our national practice to fight for more survivors in campus proceedings. Laura perfectly models our firm’s obsession with fixing anti-victim systems – by providing direct services to individuals, we see the trends of injustices emerging in their nascent stage. Through legislation and impact litigation, we stop the horrors from happening to others.”
“I am thrilled with the sale of my law practice to C.A. Goldberg, PLLC,” said Dunn, who is also a 2018 TED Fellow with a victim rights TED talk garnering over a million views. “Like me, Carrie is a survivor turned victim rights attorney with a national law practice that is making waves. In combining our forces, we will only help increase the prospect of justice for survivors of gender violence across the country.”
