Our firm is doing an investigation into deepfake apps that are marketed to create digitally enhanced nude images of people. We are interested in speaking with victims interested in exploring pioneering litigation to stop the manufacturers and distributors of these apps.
C.A. Goldberg, PLLC has been at the forefront of how AI can be maliciously used to overturn a person’s life. For the past ten years, we’ve been representing victims whose images have been digitally manipulated and published online to embarrass them. While deepfakes mainly impacted our celebrity and public figure clients, the technology has become so simple and accessible in the last two years that we are seeing non-public figures and even children becoming the victims. New York was one of the first states to criminalize the publication of deepfakes. As always, we don’t want to just go after the wrongdoers, we must also target the platforms that make money from the technology…and humiliation.
If you or somebody you know has been the victim of deepfakes, please contact us here.
As a leader for holding big tech accountable for harms on their platforms, in late October, our founder Carrie Goldberg was invited by the White House to attend President Biden’s signing of the Executive Order on Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence to ensure our country leads the way in managing the risks of AI. One of the most significant announcements at this even was that AI products must be proven safe before release – it’s about time this is being addressed at the national level!
